Project Details:
The client, a retiree, chose Top Shelf Painting based on our extensive experience in cabinet refinishing showcased on Facebook. She aimed to modernize her forever home and sought a company capable of managing the entire project, including both cabinets and countertops, from start to finish. After receiving multiple estimates, she decided on Top Shelf Painting due to our expertise and positive customer feedback.
Here is our detailed process for this project:
- We initiated the project by removing all cabinet doors and drawers. The cabinet bases were then cleaned using an industrial degreaser, followed by a light sanding with 220-grit sandpaper.
- We filled open gaps and nail holes with caulk before applying a shellac primer to the bases. After the preparation, we applied two coats of Emerald Urethane Satin finish in Sherwin Williams Intellectual Gray.
- Simultaneously, we removed the existing countertop and replaced it with a modern Calcatta Laza Quartz countertop featuring a waterfall edge.
- The cabinet doors and drawer fronts were transported to our cabinet shop, where they were degreased, power sanded, primed, and final coated.
- Upon completion, we installed the doors and new hardware, resulting in a comprehensive cabinet refinish.

The project was completed successfully, with the client expressing immense satisfaction with her kitchen’s modern and refreshed look.
